The Midwives College of Utah: Undergraduate Program Goals

A midwife of technical expertise

• The undergraduate program aims to prepare students to practice at the full scope of the Certified Professional Midwife credential through the demonstration of broad, integrative, and specialized knowledge.

A midwife of professional excellence

• The undergraduate program aims to prepare students to practice within their own communities and synthesize applied and collaborative learning. Students will engage in the maternity care system professionally and ethically at all times.

A midwife of personal greatness

• The undergraduate program aims to prepare students for reflective practice and a perpetual commitment to contribute to the professionalization of direct-entry midwifery.

Academic and professional goals

1. Finish my BSM at MCU in two more years.

2. complete my clinical training hours for this term in a timely fashion with multiple preceptors.

3. assist in the political fight to recognize the cpm profession in NYS. (currently on-going)

4. Maintain a B or higher in all of my classes this term.

5. Attend a Breech without boarders workshop online or in-person.

6. to travel and apprentice domestically, as well as live abroad for set periods of time to see what other areas of the world could offer me as a cpm student and midwife. .

personal goals

1. relocate to a cpm friendly state if recognition is not granted in my current state.

2. Maintain a healthy exercise and nutritional program in an effort to make better choices.

3. Begin and maintain an appropriate amount of self care that allows me the time to fill my cup in order to care for my clients and my family with a positive outward mindset.

4. Allow my children the room to grow and develop in their own time without haste.

5. get personal debt under control and paid off within the next five years.

6. save for retirement and education for my children should they desire higher levels of schooling.
